What is Electrolysis?

Electrolysis is the only FDA-recognized method of permanent hair removal. It is effective on all hair colors, textures, and skin tones. Unlike other hair removal methods, electrolysis works by permanently destroying the growth cells within the hair follicle, preventing treated hairs from growing back.

First developed in the late 19th century, electrolysis has been refined over more than a century and continues to be used today as an effective method for treating unwanted hair.

How Does Electrolysis Work?

During an electrolysis treatment, a sterile, single-use probe is gently inserted into the natural opening of the hair follicle. Electrical energy is then delivered to the follicle to target and destroy the hair-growth cells.

Once the follicle has been properly treated, the hair is gently removed using tweezers. It should slide out easily rather than feeling like it is being pulled or plucked.

Because hair grows in different cycles, multiple treatments are needed to treat hairs as they enter the active growth phase.
